Princes Italia launches its 2026 tomato processing campaign at the Foggia plant

The 2026 tomato processing campaign officially got underway today at Princes Italia’s Foggia plant, with the arrival of the first tomatoes of the season ready for processing. Each year, this marks an important milestone that reflects the strong connection between agriculture, industry and the local area, built on work that begins months earlier in the fields through the collaboration of growers, agronomists and all the professionals involved across the supply chain.

Every tomato processed at the Foggia plant is 100% Italian, sourced through a supply chain committed to quality and sustainability at every stage, from cultivation through to processing.

Driving innovation in the field: the Pilot Field project

This year’s campaign is further strengthened by our Pilot Field, an initiative that sets our approach to the supply chain apart.

A true open-air laboratory, the Pilot Field allows us to grow a portion of our tomatoes directly, testing new technologies, agronomic practices and innovative solutions with the aim of continuously improving the sustainability of tomato cultivation.

Through the Pilot Field, we collect data, analyse the outcomes of different farming practices and develop knowledge that can be shared with our agricultural partners, helping to drive continuous improvement across the entire supply chain.

The strength of our supply chain, from field to factory

Sustainability is an integral part of our business model and is brought to life through initiatives that engage growers, suppliers and workers alike, promoting increasingly responsible practices across the supply chain.

These include our programme supporting suppliers in achieving GLOBALG.A.P. and GRASP certification, helping new growers adopt good agricultural practices while strengthening the ethical and social standards of the supply chain, with the goal of reaching 100% qualified suppliers by 2026.

We also continue our activities to safeguard the people involved in the harvest through direct field monitoring and interviews with agricultural workers. At the same time, we are investing in training through the Sustainable Tomato Academy, which has already involved 16 cooperatives and will continue throughout the 2026 campaign.

Because every great product starts with great tomatoes. And great tomatoes come from a supply chain built on innovation, expertise and a genuine commitment to people - values that guide everything we do, from field to factory.
